Why we like it:  It’s an inexpensive and good lubricating oil.  It does it’s job which is to lubricate the moving pieces of your MAC and that’s it.  It’s not made of the fancy synthetic polymers that penetrate the surface of the gun metal it’s just an old fashioned but still relevant gun oil.

We don’t like synthetic polymers that say they penetrate the surface of the gun metal because once that steel has absorbed those impurities, it becomes very hard to TIG weld.  This is a problem because the upper and lower receivers of your MAC machine gun are under a lot of stress and heavy force when in use.  This can be exacerbated when after market accessories are added.  Eventually, your MAC will wear to the point of malfunction and it will need to be repaired.  Most often the repair requires TIG welding and when the steel is full of impurities, it makes our job as the gunsmith harder and the repair becomes more expensive for the owner. We can’t prove that the oils caused the impurities but usually it is harder to weld frames and uppers when the owners claim to be using the synthetic oils.
